13 Things I Want in Overwatch 2
Ode to Overwatch: The Ultimate Overwatch 2 Wishlist
Overwatch is a game that’s near and dear to me. There’s no time denying how much time and love I’ve invested into the franchise. I’ve never been too fascinated by online games as I usually focus on narrative driven experience, but Overwatch was the first to truly become part of my daily life, for a good part of at least 5 years now.
The game has a charm which easily reels you in with its polished first person shooter (FPS) gameplay and colorful cast of characters (recognized as heroes in-game). There’s a lot that can be said about 2016’s Game of the Year winner, but now that Overwatch 2 is on the horizon, there’s so much the development (dev) team can add to enhance and evolve the experience.
Overwatch was unfortunely caught in a fundamental industry shift as the online multiplayer games market was transition from a loot-box driven, full priced game model to one where games were going free to play with paid battle passes. Monetization wasn’t about the game, but more about the cosmetics. Overwatch slowly fell behind as it failed to see this shift, but still did well enough to keep its numbers high while adding a plethora of quality updates to the game.
