Thor Love and Thunder stands as a core concept of everything wrong with the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s 4th Phase: it’s pure filler.
At its heart, it may as well be an enjoyable, children's film, but it does very little to expand on Thor’s character or build on pre-existing dynamics within the cosmic scope of a Thor movie.
It tries to set up an interesting background for the villain, but then uses him as a basic, monster-of-the-week big bad, only to give him a melodramatic farewell.
The Jane Foster plot line was the only bit of spice that added any substance to the film whereas most of it is bland action, without the humor Hulk brings, without the banter Loki brings, and without the emotions a coherent Thor movie is supposed to.
Essentially, Thor’s whole character has been stripped away off any intricacies for a cartoon character that can save any day by making you realize that brute strength isn’t always the answer, despite having such power.
Thor is always put in the wrong scenarios. Outside Infinity War and aspects of Endgame, he has very little to offer in terms of agency and urgency…
