Overwatch League 2022: What is More Important, Skill or Synergy?

Ode to Overwatch: Can Skill Carry a Team to a Win or Will Synergy Matter Most?

The San Francisco Shock have not yet signed a Main Support player, which makes this query all the more interesting. From the Overwatch 2 alpha footage, we know that how strong Lucio is, yet they still refused to sign a player to cover Main Support.

Viol2t and FDGod, as good as both are, didn’t find their place together last season. And from the way I see it, while they had 2 great rosters with many players in 2019 and 2020, Shock couldn’t find that same synergy in 2021.

I think going for a smaller roster, while focusing on how good Viol2t is, makes a lot of sense in building newfound synergy. It’s clear how important Crusty and Shock thinks of a resource in an in-game environment. It makes sense for them to perfect Viol2t and FiNN synergy as a duo while fitting that into the overall team synergy before they add in new players.

Regarding the 2020 Overwatch League season, Ans fit in really well because the other 5 players had synergy.

It’s going to be interesting seeing Viol2t on Lucio again, or maybe FiNN plays him? Because Viol2t’s flex support is still going to mean more if he isn’t stuck on Brigitte…
