One Piece Chapter 1071 Review: Escape from Egghead
Voice of One Piece: Garp versus Kizaru or Blackbeard Incoming?
One Piece is finally opening up. It seems either Oda wants a change, or he’s heard that the fans want a more immersive and expanding nature to chapters.
Egghead is finally reinforcing One Piece’s living and breathing world as we explore different areas and characters all at once. The idea that we can get Luffy or Strawhat centric panels but then jump around to Kuma, Lucci, Kid, Kizaru, and Garp allows you to feel that the story is quickening for the better. You have something happening, while still getting fun action and intriguing story.
What is Kuma really up to here? Is this a ploy to force Dragon into action against Mariejois indirectly? He clearly wants something, which will put him in danger, which only means he’s going to stir up some trouble, forcing Dragon’s hand.
It’s enjoyable to see each of Vegapunk’s alter-egos have their own thoughts on battle, and it really brings out why Lilith’s personality is Evil in this case. It only makes sense to have someone battle-centric, worst come worst.
It’s a bit ironic that Lucci won’t accept Luffy as an emperor even though he couldn’t keep up with Luffy just playing around. Though it’s great to have him as a passive-active enemy as he’s strong…
