This was truly a controversial and weak end to Wano. It’s a fun chapter, but it reveals some glaring and upsetting issues with the arc. Things were too easy, and now apparently there were some weird casualties.

Izo and Ashura were killed off screen, which was really disappointing. Instead of dragging pointless scenes, we could have gotten emotional and impactful death scenes and goodbyes with the characters. This is such a cheap way to kill them off when Kinemon survived after so many lasers and cuts, same wirh Kiku. When Pell can survive a nuke, but Izo dies to a Finger Pistol, it makes no sense.

Hawkins also died for no real reason, and Oda pulled the strangest switcheroo by making him the person with 1% chance of surviving the battle. It’s only worse when Kidd is now buddy-buddy with Apoo who betrayed him. Apoo outlived his purpose and should have been the one to be killed, but instead Hawkin’s who was actually interesting died.

Zunesha’s presence was a joke too. Literally only showed up to hype up Joy Boy and then just skedaddled. It makes no sense. There was so much potential to all the lore, mystery, characters, fights, powers, and story which was never developed and just rushed, while…
