Doomfist Brings the Fighting Game Brawls to Overwatch
Doomfist and Orisa both got massive reworks in Overwatch 2. The idea behind these changes show us that the Overwatch team is commited to making Tanks both more fun to play and play against. They don’t feel oppressive and neither do they feel like they’re holding a choke. Blizzard’s Tank philosophy seems to be moving towards making Tanks brawlers. This way they can survive in coming damage while either maneuvering through it or using it against the opposition.
Doomfist lost his Uppercut, but gained more defensive and skill based abilities such as Power Block and a more flexible Seismic Slam. His Rocket Punch does a lot less damage now, but it can increase its output depending on how much damage is blocked by Power Block. This make it an interesting, almost counter-like tool to do extra damage while protecting himself or the team.
Seismic Slam allows him to jump to much higher or further places, adding a lot more versatility into how he gets across the map. Doomfist truly feels like what a DPS Hero would be like within the Tank slot, which makes him choosing to play…
