The Cuphead Show is a treat for the fans, technically by the fans. It’s because the Cuphead game was such a success that the IP is growing. We’re living in this weird video game animation glow up with Arcane, Castlevania, Sonic, and now The Cuphead Show.
The best part about the show is how it takes parts from the game and adds even more life to it. The game is brimming with personality, but the show adds a layer of depth to it with how it ties characters and story to its world.
Normally, similar shows are just episode one-offs, but The Cuphead Show mixes the best of both worlds. The initial episode sets up the premise between Cuphead and Mugman vs the Devil. It easily walks between the worlds of cute and cruel, for one day you may just be at the festival having fun to losing your soul.
It takes the addicting gameplay loop and makes us want more in the form of animation. The game itself was a magnificent insight into how a modern day bullet hell game can pay respect to the games…
