Dallas Fuel is one intriguing prospect heading into the 2022 Overwatch League season. It’s pretty easy to tell that they’ve only made upgrades in every role.
The 2021 Dallas Fuel finished top 3 within the 2021 Overwatch League season, but they were arguably a top 2 team for most of the stages alongside the 2021 Shanghai Dragons. It’s still unbelievable how good they were without a dedicated hitscan player with Xzi leaving the team early on.
Sparkle impressed me when he joined the 2020 Paris Eternal with his flashy Genji and bombastic personality, but there was an added sense of maturity to his play as he filled in as the 2021 Dallas Fuel’s primary Tracer player, and the existing synergy with Doha was great as well.
You can’t talk about the 2021 Dallas Fuel without mentioning the lovely synergy between Fearless and Hanbin, both which displayed great displayed whether in landing Reinhardt’s Earth Shatters or nullifying Ultimates using D.VA.’s defense matrix respectively. And then there’s Fielder, the silent but deadly Flex Support player. I just wonder if the 2022 Dallas Fuel is going to play a lot more Moira again, but I’m really hoping to see an improved Zenyatta from Fielder as his Ana and Baptiste are great.
Okay, so the exciting part of the current roster is the addition of Guriyo, Edison, and ChiYo. With these players, their roster is actually complete and ready to compete at the highest level in pretty much any composition, but it’s still yet to be seen how good ChiYo would be in Double Flex Support meta.
Yes, the Dallas Fuel cycle of misery came to an end last year, but the 2022 Overwatch League looks like their best chance yet at a Grand Finals Championship!
